Hardened to 60 HRC — and finished on the same floor.

The most modern and comprehensive commercial induction hardening facility in Queensland. Units from 200 kW to 400 kW at 3–10 kHz harden to 60 HRC at case depths of 3–15 mm. Our computerised gas-fired oven (6.5 × 5.5 × 2.7 m, to 800°C) handles stress relieving and normalising. Available commercially to external customers.

Because the department shares one building with machining, fabrication and fitting, a component can be machined, hardened, stress-relieved and final-machined without leaving Paget.

Capability 01 / 02

Case hardening to a controlled depth

Induction units from 200 kW to 400 kW, running at 3–10 kHz, case-harden to 60 HRC at depths of 3–15 mm — the depth the drawing calls for, held across the component. Stress relieving and normalising follow in the computerised gas-fired oven before final machining.

Capability 02 / 02

From slew bearings to drive sprockets

The components that wear hardest on draglines, excavators and fixed plant come through this department — hardened for ABC's own slew-bearing and machining work, and commercially for external customers.

Plant envelope

Heat-treatment plant

The plant that sets the envelope. Where a component lands inside these limits, it is hardened, stress-relieved and returned to machining in house — read it like a calibration sheet.

Send the drawing or the worn part. We'll come back with a quote, a hardening procedure and a QA plan — and because all seven departments share one floor, the same job can be machined, hardened and finished without leaving Paget.
